Terminal Manager – Night Shift:

  • Salary: $70,000 per year.

About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Terminal Manager to oversee nighttime operations at our cross-dock terminal. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day terminal activities, leading employees and independent contractors, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and ensuring freight moves efficiently and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader and problem solver who is comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment and is willing to get hands-on when needed. This is not a desk-only management position. The Terminal Manager will work directly with drivers, contractors, warehouse personnel, and leadership to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee nighttime cross-dock terminal operations.
  • Supervise and provide direction to employees and independent contractors.
  • Ensure freight is loaded, unloaded, staged, and moved efficiently.
  • Operate or assist with a forklift as needed.
  • Be willing and able to drive a 26-foot box truck when operationally necessary.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, performance, and overall work quality.
  • Conduct employee and contractor interviews, onboarding, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Handle performance issues and make termination recommendations or decisions when appropriate.
  • Review and monitor ELD records for compliance and operational issues.
  • Conduct dash camera reviews and address safety or performance concerns.
  • Maintain familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure drivers and terminal personnel follow company safety and operating procedures.
  • Participate in conference calls and communicate effectively with company leadership.
  • Complete basic computer-based administrative and reporting tasks.
  • Track and address operational issues, delays, damages, attendance problems, and other terminal concerns.
  • Work closely with dispatch, operations, safety, and management teams.
  • Identify problems quickly and develop practical solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and productive terminal environment.
  • Lead by example and maintain a professional relationship with employees and contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, warehousing, or terminal operations.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on forklift experience required.
  • Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience working with ELD systems.
  • Ability to review and understand dash camera footage.
  • Comfortable working with employees and independent contractors.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Basic to average computer skills.
  • Comfortable participating in conference calls and communicating with management.
  • Must be willing to drive a 26-foot box truck when needed.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work a nighttime schedule.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the terminal and lead from the front.

The right person will be comfortable getting out on the dock, working with drivers, addressing problems as they happen, operating equipment when necessary, and holding employees and contractors accountable to company expectations.

You should be a hands-on leader, strong communicator, and solution-oriented manager who can keep operations moving even when unexpected problems arise.
